Ryan manages the YCR Research Laboratory directing research projects, supporting breeding and grower services, and overseeing the production and quality control of virus-free hops through plant tissue culture. Ryan is originally from Colville, Washington, and became interested in plant science early on through spending time with his family gardening and foraging for mountain huckleberries. He pursued his interests in plant science at Washington State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Biotechnology in 2013 and a Ph.D. in Molecular Plant Sciences in 2019. While at WSU, Ryan developed a passion for craft beer and home brewing which steered him to work in the hop industry and join the YCR team. Outside of work, Ryan enjoys cooking, hiking, kayaking, trivia, and gaming.
